BWN Sustainable Food Garden Project, Hospicio de San Jose Manila, Philippines
Hospicio de San Jose cares for and feeds the poorest of the poor in Manila every day. To help provide the food they need, Bliss Woman Network launched the Food Garden Project Initiative in 2016.
This provides daily supplies of fresh, safe, healthy and nutritious food to all the people in their care, and for the carers who support them.
We welcome Volunteers and Donations for this project -
We are not farmers, so we need your skills and your support to help the Hospicio become more self-sufficient in food. Here are some ways you can help us:
We need sound and supervision from farmers, market gardeners, fruitgrowers, horticulturalists, agricultural scientists, landscape designers or experienced home gardeners who can show us what to do. Please give us a little of your time, experience and wisdom to teach us and help us to grow our own fresh food.
We need people who can spare regular time each week – as little as two to four hours – to help us to manage our food garden, build and maintain new vegetable plots, compost our waste and teach our people what to do.
A Gift which Keeps on Giving: at Hospicio de San Jose. A donation of as little as 4,000 pesos will buy the soil, seed, tools, trellising, planter boxes and water supply to establish a new garden plot, which we will name after the donor. We are happy to receive donations both from within the Philippines and from overseas.
In keeping with the Bliss Woman Network philosophy of sustainable food production, our Food Garden Project seeks to produce fresh, health safe food without use of toxic chemicals, and by recycling water and crop waste as compost, to grow the next crop.
